Affiliate Disclosure: How seine.boats Gets Paid

The booking buttons and cards on seine.boats are affiliate links: if you book through them, GetYourGuide, Tiqets or Headout pay us a commission, at no extra cost to you. We are not the official website of any company.

In one sentence

seine.boats is an independent guide; we do not sell tickets; we earn a commission from our partner platforms when you book through our links, at no extra cost to you. These links are part of a commercial relationship with those platforms, and we label them as such.

Our three partners are GetYourGuide (the large majority of our links), Tiqets and Headout. The following are affiliate links:

  • the booking buttons, and the booking bar that appears at the bottom of the screen;
  • the offer cards with a photo, price and rating, and the tables that compare the same cruise across several platforms;
  • links in the text that point to a specific offer on one of the three platforms;
  • the GetYourGuide and Tiqets availability calendars embedded on some pages.

The following are not affiliate links: links between our own pages, and links to the official websites of the boat companies, the ports or the tourist office. Those links earn us nothing.

How we label them

Pages that contain affiliate links carry the notice "Contains affiliate links", and the booking areas remind you: "Affiliate link: if you book, we earn a commission at no extra cost to you." The footer of every page says it again. On the technical side, these links are marked as sponsored links for search engines and open in a new tab, so you know you are leaving seine.boats.

Our links go straight to the platform: the address simply contains our partner code, which lets the platform know you came from us. There is no intermediate redirect page hosted by us, and we set no affiliate cookie on our domain. See our cookie policy.

Why your price stays the same

The commission comes out of the platform's own margin. The affiliate link adds no fee: you pay the price the platform shows at the time of booking, the same as if you had gone to it directly. The price that counts is the one on the checkout page; the prices shown on seine.boats are a guide, given as "from" and updated regularly, but they may have changed in the meantime.

Sometimes the same cruise is cheaper on the company's own website than through a platform, or the other way around. When we know, we show it in our comparison tables, official price included, even when the cheapest option earns us nothing. The detailed comparison of the three platforms is on GetYourGuide, Tiqets or Headout.

What the commission does not decide

Commission rates differ from one platform to another and from one offer to another. They decide neither our opinions nor the order of the offers. We rank and recommend on criteria you can check for yourself: departure pier, duration, what you see, timetables, price, cancellation terms, accessibility and travelers' reviews. Some of the companies we cover have no offer with our partners: they still appear in our boat company reviews, with a link to their own website.

What French law says

seine.boats is published in France, so French law applies. The LCEN (loi pour la confiance dans l'économie numérique, France's law on confidence in the digital economy, law no. 2004-575 of 21 June 2004) requires, in its article 20, that any online advertising be clearly identifiable as such, along with the person on whose behalf it is made. The Code de la consommation (the French Consumer Code) also prohibits presenting paid-for content as independent without saying so. Law no. 2023-451 of 9 June 2023 on commercial influence, for its part, requires the label "Publicité" (advertising) or "Collaboration commerciale" (commercial partnership) on influencers' paid promotions. Whichever reading applies to an editorial site like ours, our rule is simple: every link that can earn us a commission is labeled.

We are nobody's official website

seine.boats is neither the operator nor the official website of Bateaux Parisiens, Bateaux Mouches, Vedettes de Paris, Vedettes du Pont Neuf, Batobus or any other company mentioned, nor of GetYourGuide, Tiqets or Headout. Company names and trademarks (including Bateaux-Mouches® and Batobus) belong to their owners; we mention them only to identify their cruises, without logos. For the company's own website, follow the official link given on its listing. Who we are: about us.
